Anthony J. May is an experienced litigator who joined the firm in 2025. Drawing from his years of representing individuals in complex civil rights matters, Anthony’s practice focuses on high-stakes litigation, including fiduciary disputes, will contests, and other contested estate and trust issues, as well as commercial and appellate matters.
Anthony brings a strong appellate background and a deep understanding of procedural strategy to each case. He has represented clients in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and Maryland’s appellate courts and has authored numerous appellate and amicus briefs in significant cases impacting Maryland law. Clients and colleagues value his strategic approach, meticulous preparation, and ability to navigate complex factual and legal issues through every stage of litigation.
Anthony previously served as the Francis D. Murnaghan, Jr. Appellate Advocacy Fellow at The Public Justice Center, where he represented clients in appellate and trial matters. He also clerked for the Honorable Deborah Sweet Eyler (Ret.) on the Appellate Court of Maryland.
Anthony is a frequent lecturer on litigation strategy and emerging legal issues, including the impact of artificial intelligence in employment matters and in appellate practice. His commentary has been featured in national media outlets including The New York Times, Law360, and the American Association for Justice’s (AAJ) Trial Magazine.
Anthony serves on the Board of Directors of the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service and the Francis D. Murnaghan, Jr. Appellate Advocacy Fellowship, and is an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, where he teaches Advanced Appellate Advocacy also serves on the Alumni Board.
